OpenStudy (campayne):

Write the matrix equation for the system, and then solve.

OpenStudy (campayne):

OpenStudy (sooobored):

writing it out is easy Ax=B where \[A= \left[\begin{matrix}3 & -2 \\ 2 & -3\end{matrix}\right]\] \[X=\left(\begin{matrix}x \\ y\end{matrix}\right)\] \[B=\left(\begin{matrix}4 \\ 11\end{matrix}\right)\]

OpenStudy (sooobored):

calculating, either involves finding a nice calculator, or using the inverse property of a matrix

OpenStudy (sooobored):

\[A^{-1} A = A A^{-1}=I\] where I is the identity matrix

OpenStudy (sooobored):

if we multiply the inverse matrix to both sides \[A^{-1}A X=A^{-1}B\] the result is \[I X=A^{-1}B\] which is \[X=A^{-1}B\]

OpenStudy (campayne):

so.. how does this work on the numbers i have

OpenStudy (sooobored):

find the inverse matrix A^-1 multiply that by B you then get X

OpenStudy (sooobored):

where A, B,X are defined in my first post
