Net ionic reaction of HClO2 and NaOH?

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Do you know how to start this off?

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Start with the molecular format - \(\large HClO_{2~(aq)} +NaOH_{(aq)} \rightarrow H_2O_{(l)}+NaClO_{2~(aq)} \)

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Now move to total ionic - \(\large H_{(aq)}^+~+ ClO_{2~(aq)}^-~+Na_{(aq)}^+~+OH_{(aq)}^- \rightarrow ~H_2O_{(l)}+Na_{(aq)}^+ ClO_{2~(aq)}^-\)

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

For the net ionic, just get rid of the "spectator ions."

OpenStudy (spaghettieddy):

So you're left with H+(aq) + OH-(aq) -> H2O(l)? Thanks btw

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

correct :)
