You mean the first draft of the constitution? Before the bill of rights were added?
i beleive so
As i recall, the ratification of the Constitution in 1787 was opposed by the anti-federalists because there was nothing in the original draft that would protect them from the government. This is why the Bill of rights was added to the constitution. Also known as civil liberties. you have heard of them: freedom of speech, freedom of religion. etc.
@royalranger why where they against it tho
ohhhh nvm i see what you said now there was nothing protecting them so that led to the bill of rights
The Federalists believed that the elite were best fit to govern, and they believe in a strong national government. The Anti-federalists felt that the government needed to be watched, and they wanted a document that would give power to the states. So the first draft of the constitution lacked state rights and lacked individual protection from the government. The Amending clause allowed changes to the constitution. The first nine amendments are known as the civil liberties. The 10th amendment basically says that if its not in the constitution, it belongs to the states, (education, transportation, etc). These were known as the bill of rights and they met the conditions of the anti-federalists.
@royalranger can you help me with another
