So in order to calculate the probability of pulling out a green highlighter and a red pen, we have to take into account the total number of pens and highlighters together. We have a total of 6 pens and 5 highlighters. Now let's find out how many of them are red pens or highlighters. We know that we have 5 red pens and 1 green highlighter. So the probability for grabbing a red pen is 5/6, while grabbing a green highlighter is 1/5. Because these are two separate events that occur and it asks for both a green highlighter and the red pen to be pulled out in quick succession, you would multiply those probabilities together, yielding a percentage of both events occurring at the same time. \[\frac{ 5 }{ 6 }*\frac{ 1 }{ 5 }\]
