jaymoney14:

which of the following explains why elements in column 17 (the halogens) are very reactive.

jordangantt12:

options? or do i put it in my own words?

jaymoney14:

no

jordangantt12:

on what part?

toga:

The halogens, which are elements in column 17 of the periodic table, are very reactive because they have seven valence electrons in their outermost energy level. This means that they only need to gain one more electron to achieve a stable, noble gas electron configuration. As a result, they tend to readily react with other elements in order to gain that extra electron and become more stable. This reactivity makes the halogens important elements in a variety of chemical reactions and processes.
