What happens to the average kinetic energy of water molecules as water freezes?
Do u know what kinetic energy is?
its a type of energy that is constantly in motion
Ok how does temperature effect kinetic energy?
Well knowing that kinetic energy is defined as the energy possessed by an object because of it's motion. Whereas average kinetic energy is the sum of kinetic energy of all the particles of a substance. Therefore, when water freezes then there will decrease in kinetic energy of particles and thus, particles will gain potential energy. Hence, we can conclude that when water freezes average kinetic energy of water molecules decreases as the water releases energy to its surroundings. Hope that helps :)
wow well thx for the help guys

Direct answers are replies to a question that just say what the answer is or some random thought that was taken off another site. For example: "the answer is B" or "i think the answer is D" And then a copy-pasted answer from another site. Those are direct answers. I commend you, @dontsaymyname , for answering this question properly. It's not a direct answer, it's an explanation that has the user understand and learn the content, rather than just give out a simple copy pasted answer they won't learn. Good job. :)
