Two identical metal spheres at 8 °C are put into two beakers with equal amounts of water, as shown below. Picture will be attached Heat flows from the metal spheres to the water in Beaker A and Beaker B. Which statement is correct? The temperature of the water in both beakers is lower than 8 °C. The temperature of the water in both beakers is greater than 8 °C. The temperature of the water in both beakers will decrease. The temperature of the metal spheres in both beakers will increase.
Am i right with B?
@AZ
LANDFALL! Sorry for being AFK. So from the statement "Heat flows from the metal spheres to the water" we can safely assume that the water is cooler than the metal spheres. And the metal spheres are 8 degrees Celsius, so the water's temperature has to be lower than that. Technically, you are both correct and incorrect. Is this referring to BEFORE the scenario described or AFTER? Because if it's AFTER, then you are right.
C is wrong because heat is flowing into the water, so temperature INCREASES. D is also incorrect because the metal spheres are losing heat as it escapes into the environment (in this case, the water surrounding said spheres).
between a and b, would it be B then?
That ultimately depends on whether we're talking about before the heat transfer process occurs or after. Before? No, it's A After, it would be B. Your question's parameters are pretty vague on that tbh
How would we know if its after?
@supie @AZ what do you thinK?
It's probably B though considering this whole process is described. Most likely it's AFTER or why even describe the process?
@Laylalyssa I'm stuck between A and B, can you help?
Didn't kitt jst help u-? What part are u not understanding ?
Technically the wording of the question itself is inconclusive, so the answer could be A or B
I would say B only because there really isn't a point in explaining a whole process if we're not analyzing the result
I'll just go with B
