Why did the founding fathers include "freedom of press" in the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution?

Options: The founding fathers all knew newspaper owners who would give be kind if that phrase was includend. They knew how important the press would become in our country Ben Franklin owned a newspaper and wrote books. He insisted that phrase should be included in the Constitution. James Madison maintained a filibuster to force the rest of the founding fathers to vote for that phrase.

Well, think about this one. Who tells you when the govt isn't doing their job? The news. So does it make sense that the people creating a govt. would want it to stay uncorrupted?
