Politely disagree with the previous response. When you measure a curved surface inside a container, look at the meniscus (bottom part of the curve) Exactly halfway between 170 and 190 there's a big line at 180 mL. Between that line, and 170, there's 5 smaller divisions, so each small division represents 2mL. The bottom of the meniscus is one small division below 180, so it's around 178. ***However** in terms of precision, you're allowed to go one decimal place past the smallest increment, so you're allowed to go to the 1st decimal place, making 177.7 the most reasonable response.

So that makes sense the only problem i had was the fact that i could barely see the meniscus or the line but 177.7 sounds about rights thanks
