Mathplayer223:

C2.55 H2.0 and O2.0 im not sure what to do next @vocaloid

Mathplayer223:

@togahimiko

Vocaloid:

check your division again 62.4g C/12 = 5.2 moles C 4.19g H/1.008 = 4.157 moles H 33.2g O/15.999 = 2.075 moles O divide each by the smallest of these three molar quantities (2.075). if you get ~nice round numbers, that's your ratio. otherwise, multiply each by some number to get them to round numbers.

Mathplayer223:

i did divide by 2.0 on each number

Vocaloid:

oh those are your mole ratios, got it since you have C = 2.55 moles, double all the values and you'll get C = (about) 5, H = 4, and O = 4 as your ratio

Mathplayer223:

so i multiply by 2?

Vocaloid:

yes

Mathplayer223:

C5H4O4

Mathplayer223:

but 2 times 1 is 2?

Vocaloid:

ah, sorry, 1 mol O * 2 gives you 2 moles O, you're right
