Chemical equation questions/Net Ionic

Hi, I need some help, this is a lab and I have stupid questions to ask

lowkey:

So this is my first question: my chemistry professor wants net ionic for one of these but I feel like we can make net ionic for both of them. What the heck is net ionic? Like I get it but what do I do when I have a solid as an reactant? 1. 2Mg(s)+O2(g)->2MgO(s) like is this net ionic equation-able? 2. So is this: BaO(s)+H2O(l)-> Ba(OH)2

lowkey:

Secondly, Cu(s)+ZnSO4(aq) does not equal a reaction due to metal activity series and solubility chart. Do we write the products as Cu(s)+ZnSO4? Or just NO reaction since nothing happened

Vocaloid:

1) these compounds do not form ions so it doesn’t make sense to write a net ionic equation 2) Ba(OH)2 should be soluble so you can at least write out Ba2+ and 2(OH)- If there’s no reaction then it’s customary to write “no reaction” rather than write the reactants again.
