Researchers stationed at different areas on a mountain and in a tunnel midway through the mountain boiled water at the same time. Even though the water at every station was at the same temperature, the pot at the top of the mountain started boiling before the others. Why? Water boils when the vapor pressure is (less than/equal to/equal than) the atmospheric pressure. The atmospheric pressure is least at the top of the mountain.

Sherixn:

"Vapour pressure is a measure of the tendency of a material to change into the gaseous or vapour state, and it increases with temperature. The temperature at which the vapour pressure at the surface of a liquid becomes equal to the pressure exerted by the surroundings is called the boiling point of the liquid."

Sherixn:

So from this given information, are you able to find the answer?

4479:

pick one please (less than/equal to/equal than)

Sherixn:

All you have to do is read the sentence (:

4479:

(less than/equal to/equal than) it says nothing about this, i need to find where this is at.

Sherixn:

the surface of a liquid becomes equal to

Sherixn:

Try reading this one ^

Sherixn:

It helps to cut information into smaller pieces (:

Sherixn:

Do you still need help?

4479:

yes.

Sherixn:

The last 2 words: the surface of a liquid becomes equal to

4479:
