thinking the last option
To convert from rectangular coordinates (x,y) to polar coordinates \[\left( r,\theta \right)\] , apply the following equations \[r=\sqrt{x^{2}+y^{2}}\] and \[\theta=\tan ^{-1}\left( \frac{ y }{ x } \right)\]
