Do you at least know the general formula for an alkane? It's basically just a carbon-hydrogen chain.

Cycloalkanes on the other hand will have the general formula of \(\Large C_nH_{2n} \) due to their ring structure.

yes ofc i just dont know what im supposed to do and what RCOOH, RX, RCHO etc.. are.. i dont major in chem either

Not methyl, but just any group

An alkene would be like an alkane but with a double bond rather than a single bond
