OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sqrt{4x+5}-\sqrt{x-1}=\sqrt{x+4}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

square both sides, get \[4x+5+x-1-2\sqrt{4x+5}\sqrt{x-1}=x+4\] or \[4x=2\sqrt{4x+5}\sqrt{x-1}\] or \[2x=\sqrt{4x+5}\sqrt{x-1}\] and then square again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think that works second time you get \(4x^2=(4x+5)(x-1)=4x^2+x-5\) or \(0=x-5\) so \(x=5\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it did...thanks for helping me work it out
