I need to check my answers, please help! Atom A has 12p and 12n and goes 2-8-2. Atom B has 8p and 8n and goes 2-6. 1.) If atom A loses electrons to atom B, a.) how many electrons will atom A lose? I have 2 b.) how many electrons will atom B gain? I have 2 c.) what will be the oxidation number of atom A? I have 8 d.) what will be the oxidation number of atom B? I have 8 e.) what will be the total charge of the compound form? I have 10 f.) what type of bond will form? I have covalent bond Are these right?
i learn these in phyiscal science so i would say yes they are
I believe these are correct, but why does it say i have 2 or i have 8?
yes it is correct
all or correct
These are all correct, Good job :)
its all correct, but a tip to find out wether its an ionic or covalent bond is to use the pauling scale If the electronegativity difference (usually called ΔEN) is less than 0.5, then the bond is nonpolar covalent. If the ΔEN is between 0.5 and 1.6, the bond is considered polar covalent. If the ΔEN is greater than 2.0, then the bond is ionic.
